Petrissage Kneading Massage
Petrissage is a massage technique that includes kneading, rubbing and rolling of the muscle to stimulate circulation, relaxation and the release of toxins such as lactic acid which is a natural byproduct produced mainly during times of overuse of muscles.
Petrissage, or kneading massage must be applied slowly and rhythmically and can be performed using either one or both hands.
Petrissage is also used in massage therapy to lift the skin and squeeze it. The purpose is to free adhesions and improve local circulation.
